It’s not by accident that the Kansas City metro region contains some of the most renowned school districts in the country: it’s thanks to the work of our exceptional educators and motivated students. We believe these heroes deserve recognition for their hard work, and that’s what we do every month with the Blue KC Sporting Samaritan program.
In March, the Sporting Samaritan that stood out from the crowd was second-grade teacher Mindy Beashore.
Janae Melvin nominated her. Her son, Logan, is one of Mindy’s former students.
“Last year when Logan was in her class, she recognized a few things in him that helped him in school and us as a family,” Melvin said.
Mindy has spent nearly two decades at the St. Patrick Catholic School in Kansas City, Kansas, helping thousands of students find success in the classroom. She has taught kindergarten, first, second and third grades, but always comes back to her favorite – second grade.
“I am excited and very happy! I’ve been teaching for 18 years and this is the first time a parent and student has ever recognized me or brought to my attention that what I have done for them has made an impact to this extent,” Beashore said.
If she could give everyone one piece of advice, it would be to let your job become a positive reflection of who you are.
Blue KC is proud to honor her as one of the educators who helps make the Kansas City community an enriching place to raise a family. To nominate a Sporting Samaritan, visit www.sportingkc.com/bluekc.
